El Sah Mesh Handbag

Description: Handbag. Arched frame of silver (plated?), lightly chased and engraved. Openwork areas on sides of frame allow rings from suspension chain to slide up and down acting as "locks". Mesh bag with enameled design of flowers. Inside bag are makers tag marked: "Mesh / Whiting & Davis Co. / Bags / Reg. U.S. & Can." and brand tag marked "El Sah".

[Water Vendors]

Description: Three water vendor carts in front of what appears to be a water tank. Water vendors were called barrileros or aguadores. Correspondence reads, "At Laredo, Going over into Mexico this afternoon, so if I fail to send you a card, the Insurrectos have got me." This card was written and mailed to Miss Mollie Chaney in Longview, Texas on February 13, 1913 in Laredo, Texas.

Description: Photograph of William L. Cleveland, the postmaster of Palo Pinto, Texas, standing inside of the Palo Pinto Post Office.
