[Growing up in Westlake Hills]

Description: Photocopy of a transcript of an interview with James Short, an alumnus of Eanes Elementary School from Westlake Hills. He goes on to talk about what life was like as a student at Eanes School, and recalls the various incidents that occurred such as bees being let loose in the school bus, a bonfire being built in the middle of the road to stop the bus from arriving to school, and fights between the students.

The essay mostly focuses on Oscar Carlson, the son of John Hendrik Carlson and a Swedish woman named Morning Star and their life in the Eanes County area. [Oral History Interview with Mary Ellen Mowinckle Johnson, April 28, 1975]

Description: Photocopy of a handwritten letter from Mary Johnson to Dorothy Depwe, included is also a survey that was filled out by Mary Johnson asking her about what life was like at the Eanes School as well as her role as a teacher at the time. The letter from Johnson talks about a picture that was found by Johnson that she feels Depwe could be interested in as well a robbery that occurred in which Johnson's watch and fountain pen fillers were stolen.
