The Davis Wells; The Davis Baths

Description: Pictured here is a semi-ornate brick building (with a socle presumably of stone), advertising the Davis Wells and the Davis Baths. This enterprise is not listed in A.F. Weaver's "TIME WAS in Mineral Wells...." The picture appears to have been excerpted from a larger photograph, as the legend "Davis Baths" (not visible in the picture) appears on the negative. Description: Memorandum from Dallas City Councilman Al Gonzalez sent to First Assistant City Manager Jan Hart on September 30, 1989. Gonzalez inquires Hart about the operation of bath houses, which are described in an attached letter sent to Gonzales by Jim Williams, Jr. and a testimony about homosexual conduct and activity by former Dallas Vice officer Mike Thomas.

Description: Postcard of soldiers washing in long water troughs outside of a building, with the caption "A typical scene on washday at Camp MacArthur, Waco, Tex." A handwritten note on the back of the postcard says "On the back side of the bath house. There is a bath house to every row of tents; e.i. to every company, battery troop or squadron - depends on the branch of service. Our bath houses are a more permanent construction than these. It was this kind that I spent my afternoons in last August."
