The sanity trial of 36-year-old Finis Blankenship
nears completion in the Fort Worth courtroom of Judge
Byron Matthews. Since yesterday afternoon -- the
prosecution has sought to prove that the convicted
robber is faking insanity to escape a 50-year prison
term. The defense has sought to prove he is mentally
ill. Thirty-five minutes after it gets the case --the
jury is back with its verdict...that Blankenship is
sane and that he is sane enough to consult with his
lawyers in appealing his robbery conviction.
Blankenship accepts the verdict with no visible
display of emotion. His attorneys say they will ask
for a new sanity trial.COUPLE SITTING
In another section of the Criminal Courts Building,
B.L. Horton waits with his wife to appear before
Judge J. E. Winters. Horton was charged with murder
last August after Billy Joe Sexton was shot to death
in Horton's north-side night club. Judge Winters,
