THE GETTY CENTER FOR EDUCATION INTHE ARTS Vicki Rosenberg, Program Officer June 19, 1991 TO: Jack Davis Bill McCarter FR: Vicki Rosenberg RE: MAY 1991 PROGRESS REPORT, STUDENT ASSESSMENT GRANT, AND OTHER ISSUES cc: Brent Wilson Per our conversation of last week, Jack, I wanted to get back to you both regarding the May 1991 Progress Report, the Student Assessment Grant Proposal, the Art-O-Grams, and the January 1992 Directors' Meeting. MAY 1991 PROGRESS REPORT Thank you for your brief and informative May 1991 progress report. As I told Jack, I was surprised to see that you had reduced the summer institute program from three to two weeks without notifying the Center in time to respond to this significant change (please see condition #3 of your March 22, 1991 grant offer letter which obligates you to notify me of any changes to the project for approval). I've asked Brent Wilson to talk with you during his 1991 Summer site visit regarding how you intend to provide an additional weeks worth of staff development during the academic year. Please discuss this major change in your October 18, 1991 report and project proposal for 1991. ASSESSMENT GRANT Based on reviewers' responses, the center has decided not to fund NTI's student assessment project. As I explained to Jack, the reviewers found the proposal to be unfocused, didn't understand how the videotapes would be assessed, or how a process which utilized video documentation could be used by the average teacher.
