Minutes of the Board of Managers Meeting held Friday, March
30, 1973, at the El Tropicano Motor Hotel, San Antonio, Texas.
President Oliver B. Chamberlin presided.
The following members were present: Compatriots Red, Kidwell,
Boone, Simmons, Logan, Wallace, Currie, Frank, Stahl, Casten,
Hill, Sterling, Swofford and Drouilhet.
Compatriot Currie, Chairman of the Budget Committee, reported
on the work his committee had done. He pointed out that there
had been deficit spending and recommended that dues be raised.
A motion was made to refer the report to the Audit Committee,
which in turn would report to the convention. This motion
failed to pass. A motion was made, seconded and passed that
the report of Compatriot Currie be accepted.
A discussion was had on changing the administrative year to a
calendar year. No action was taken on this matter.
It was pointed out that the registration fee had always been
set so we would break even on the convention. It was the
opinion of those present that the fee should be raised so
that the convention would more than pay for itself
It was brought out that at our July 1973 Board meeting the
publishing of a roster was approved and that the Budget
Committee Was to see where the money would be available.
Compatriot Currie stated that our present financial condition
could not stand this expense. A motion was made that we take
the necessary money out of Savings. Compatriot Currie announced
that he had obtained a rough figure of $300.00, to publish a
roster, from a Houston firm. Compatriot Sterling offered to
give the money to pay for the Roster. The Board accepted this
offer with thanks.
Compatriot Stahl read and explained the proposed changes in
the Constitution and By-Laws. All of the proposed changes were
approved to be passed to the convention assembly.
Compatriot Red offered to pay for the printing of the Constitution
and By-Laws if these would be included in the Roster. This offer
was accepted by the Board with thanks.
