the Houston Oilers will name assistant coach Walt
Schlinkman as their new-head coach replacing Wally
Lemm, who announced his retirement yesterday.
Station KQUE quotes an unidentified source close to
the Oilers as saying the official announcement will
be made at the end of the season. Thus far, there
has been no comment from Schlinkman or the Oilers.
The Dallas Cowboys said today that Bob Hayes was
the only casualty from yesterday's game with
Philadelphia. Bob suffered a groin injury and the
club says he will not do any heavy work before
Thursday. However, he's listed as probable for
Sunday's game at New York.
