DALLAS RACE
RUSS 0/C
There have been no further incidents following last night's racial disturbance in West Dallas. Police say they do not expect any further trouble. Six persons were injured during the disturbance. One of them---18-month-old Mi oslava Castro---is in critical condition. She was hit by a flying bottle last night---and spent nearly five hours in surgery this morning. The other five persons were only slightly hurt. Six Negroes were arrested. All of them remain incustody charged with disturbing the peace. Other charges may be filed later. This afternoon leaders of the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee charged that police tactics touched off the incident. They said the police treated West Dallas negroes with what they called, "too much force and violence." Police Chief Charles Batchelor said, "We are goinj to enforce the law---and we won't mistreat anyone."
