Notes

Transcript of script: [The hijacked T-W-A jetliner has landed in Rome after flying 5,900 miles across the United States, the Atlantic Ocean and Western Europe.
The Boeing 707 touched down at Rome’s (Fiumicino) International Airport after being forced to fly at rifle-point the longest air hijack route on record.
The lights on the white and red plane were darkened after the landing. And the big craft taxied to the airport’s main terminal, and beyond.
The Young rifle-toting gunman had demanded before the jet set down that he be met by Rome’s police chief, un-armed, and with a car.
The jetliner circled the airport for at least 20 minutes before landing.
The chief of airport police was standing by in a car to board the plane, if possible.
The demand that he be met by the city’s police chief was believed in some way connected with the fact that the fugitive from a marine corps courtmartial is a native-born Italian…and that his father reportedly still resided in Naples.]
