  • Display Note: Original script untitled. Transcript of script: "(Nixon) -- A further reduction in American troops in Vietnam will be announced by President Nixon before the end of the year. Nixon revealed his plan at a news conference but added that the size of the reduction has not yet been determined. The president said the impending reduction us part if his plan that will end the War regardless of the outcome of peace negotiations. --Dash-- (In his first news conference since September, Nixon also spoke optimistically of the strategic arms limitation talks with Russia not being held in Finland. And he said he would not sign a tax reform bill if it follows the pattern of a measure before the Senate because of its cost. (Asked about the My Lai incident, Nixon said he is doing everything he can to bring all the facts to light, but he ruled out a separate civilian probe.)"
