Palo Pinto County residents of Santo today book out time from bust weekend activities to cheer a couple of unlikely contestants of a cross-town footrace. The event featured 4 57-year-old M Claude Draper,
and 60-year-old Harvey "Speed" Sparks.

began at the corner service station and ended at the barber pole on Main street. The contest was organized by the Santo Peanut Company, but speedy runners like these don't run for peanuts! So donations were taken up from the spectators... a total of $46.00 was collected to be the grand prize . The race was started with two gun shots: the
first was to wake-up the runners.
