Dallas attorney Manuel DeBusk was appointed chairman
of the state's college coordinating board just a
week ago. But his newsness on the job did not pre.-
vent him from making some rather large waves today
in Austin.
Speaking before a large number of educators, DeBusk
said he wants to study the advisability of breaking
up such multi-campus systems as those of the Univer-
sity of Texas and Texas A&M.
Furthermore, Debusk indicated he N favors
a raise in tuition at state universities. And he X
said he plans to ask Governor Smith to routinely
veto any higher education bill that reaches his
desk without the approval of the coordinating board.
