V/O B/G SOPToday was the annual Sigma Chi Derby Day at
a-M-U---a sort of fraternal contribution to the
Women's Liberation Movement.
There are a number of Derby Day events---each
designed to give what we used to call the ir
weaker sex an opportunity to in demonstrate their
strong points.
The girls do compete in some traditionally
feminine endeavors---such as costume design. But the
high point of the day comes when they step into
what wa s once strictly a man's tealm---the arena.
The arena is a little muddy-.--it's designed that
way. M The female gladiators ride a log instead
of a chariot. And they are armed with weapons as
soft as ie.l... N=women were once considered to be.
It may be that the role wa s unfamiliar to the girls
