The week of Colonial golf opened a 7-day run in
Ft. Worth today as the PGA tour checked in from
Houston to begin preparations for the 26th N.I.T.
Most of the field of 100 players went through practice
6410
rounds this afternoon and took part in the
tournament's social line-up that runs concurrently
with the action on the course.FILM: GOLF

One ent took place tonight at Colonial as Texas
Christian University had a testimonial dinner for
its recent famed alumni, Charles Coody, the current
Masters champion. Coody formerly played golf for
the Horned Frogs back in the late fifties alhe's
the first TCU ex to win one of the Big 4 Tournaments
....consequently, tonight's dinner. Coody was joined
by several friends and special guests tonight./ Heading
the main table was TCU Chancellor Dr. James Moudy
who did most of the work in recognizing Coody for his
contributions to golf and TCU. /Among Coody's golfing
buddies perrennial bridesmaid Tommy Aaron....an d
Lou Graham. Veteran Ft. Worth sportswriter Dan Jenkins
was also on hand as he's covering the N.I.T. for
Sports Illustrated. Tonight's dinner kicked off a
full week of activity at Colonial. The golferswill
have some more practice tomorrow, go through a pro-am
on Wednesday, and then tee it up in round one on
Thursday.
