out onto the home's 14-open pmar porches -- the only
kind of air-conditioning known in the Gay Nineties.
The old home has been att slated for destruction
since this spring when the last tenants moved out.
The owners of the property want to tear it down
and build some new apartments% 1.
One woman has triedt o save the old house. Mrs.
Carla Hoskins first saw the McCart home when she came
to paint a picture of it. 4 This summer she and her
husband helped form a corporation to Arnp ne raise the
450,000 needed to it. Then the property owners
said they would also have to buy the new house next
door, and that raised the price to $135,000. And
