Script from the WBAP-TV/NBC station in Fort Worth, Texas, covering a news story about the sights, sounds, and events heralding the approach of Christmas in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, including: 1) the arrival by helicopter by Santa to greet children at Seminary South, where he hands out candy and listens to special requests while some children get to pet Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer - but not many, as Rudolph isn't too willing; 2) Marine Corps Reservists in Fort Worth kick off their 17th annual Toys for Tots drive, and man the Christmas Special train; 3) Salvation Army bells are heard throughout Fort Worth helping to coax donations for the annual Christmas Cheer Fund drive, and are joined for one day by members of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, to help get donations; 4) In Burnett Park, Lenda Varley, Miss Fort Worth, pushes the button to light the 57-foot tall Fort Worth Christmas tree which is strung with over 5,000 bulbs and is a gift of the Fort Worth Jaycees, while 64 downtown buildings are lit for the season; 5) The Dallas Morning News' Community Christmas Tree is installed in Ferris Plaza, and signifies the opening of Santa's Storehouse, which will collect gifts to be distributed to the city's poor; 6) Downtown Dallas is garbed in festive finery, proving that Santa time is here.
