A FANTASY

It was several years ago that I started hearing
about him. His name insidiously entered Dallas cul-
ture without my noticing it. It just seemed one day
I knew there was an obnoxious weekend column that
was so distasteful, so base, that it was embarassing
to be in the same town as it. To stay current, of
course, I read a few of his columns, but, frankly,
I've got better things to do than read some pre-
pubescent writing about drive-in movies.
He was misogynist in a deeply evil way. He
says he never hits women unless they want it. He
rates movies on how often the bimbos bare their

DISD'S BOND ISSUE:
How Should We Vote Here?

The Dallas Independent School District would
like us to think that the bond issue coming up on
February 12 will mark the beginning of a new era.
Upon approval of this nearly $200 million pack-
age, the district hopes to have the money needed
for long-awaited repairs on old buildings and to begin
construction on new schools. The priorities have
been established and the first $20 million is designat-
ed for what are being called "health and safety
needs." This includes removing asbestos at 62 school
sites. The federal government mandated that all
asbestos be removed from schools and other public
buildings over a year ago, but gave no suggestion
as to how to fund this expensive operation.
The second $35 million is for "deferred repair
and maintenance." The physical plants on many of
the 313 schools have been deteriorating rapidly over
