Ms. Jones is a Dallas based poet and has been writing and sharing her poetry with the public for three
years. "My writing address the well being of Black men and women and how our development is
impacted by the daily assault of racism, self hate, domestic violence and a lack of sensitivity toward
each other, " states Ms. Jones author of the forth coming book Poet With A Vision. In addition to
writing, Ms. Jones has served for the past 15 years as a dedicated volunteer at The Black Academy and
many other civic and cultural organizations serving the African American community.

Faithfulness was founded in April of 1996 by a group of African American men who share a common
desire to write and perform gospel music in a variety of venues. The group has performed their
original music at neighborhood parties, church concert and a host of civic meetings. The group
includes Rev. Stan Sanders, Rev. O.T. Williams, Rev. Darryl Dillard, Thomas Green, Mike
McCarroll, Rodney McCarty, Earl Landry and Larry Carrington. "Through our music we are
able to share the Word of the Lord, celebrating the many blessing he has bestowed upon us," states

The Zawadi Writers are a diverse group of writers based in Ft. Worth, Texas. Taking the name Zawadi,
a KiSwahili word meaning gifts, the group has performed at festivals, schools, criminal justice
programs for youth and area churches. Poet DeCee Cornish explains "Our poetry is a celebration
of our Blackness--it triumphs, tribulations, history and what we see as our future." The group
includes honor students, former gang members, recovering addicts, teachers, postal workers,
salespersons and full time writers/poets.
s$ix 'egrees of ,Creedom
Six Degrees of Freedom is a progressive, improvisational group blending poetry, dance and music to
create an audio visual marvel. The group consists of poets H.Khalil and Hekman Harrison: three
magical dancers Veronica Ramirez, Ivy Stitt, and Nadine Dyer: three musicians Marcus
Underwood, Jonas Shelton and Andy Barefoot. They incorporate elements from all walks of music
to create a mood and atmosphere incomparable to that seen or heard before.

The Third Eye Drummers keep the spirit of West Africa alive 'ith their sonorous poll rhythmic
sounds. Drummers Michael Watkins, Alvin Blakes & James Tyler, are founding member of the
Third Eye, an organization that promotes African history and culture. The djembe drums and rhythms
they play are from the 1500 century West African Mali Empire.Nrum CAl
