Founded in 2002, HappyNia Dance Theatre is committed to
fighting injustices of our society using arts as a platform for
freedom  of expression, self worth, and self actualization. As                    g
artists, HappyNia brings ordinary lives to life on stage and brings
the stage to the lives of ordinary people, challenging them to be
accountable for their responsibility in their own community, and
creating dialogue that welcomes change and the rites of passage. HappyNia is a company inspired to inform
our community about HIV/AIDS, Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse. HappyNia is a performing arts
company with an HIV prevention entity. The company is designed to make our community aware of services
available to them by showcasing productions and community forums, featuring dance, theater, song, and other
forms of expression. We believe the performing arts is a positive and effective way to educate, advocate and
support our community.

The 1980s Grammy
of Calvin Yarbrough

Award nominated duo, Yarbrough & Peoples, consisting
and Alisa Peoples was discovered by Charlie Wilson of

the famed Gap Band and signed to Total Experience Productions.
Known for their hit single Don't Stop the Music from their debut album The
Two of Us, released in 1981. The song was the closing song on the television
series The Midnight Special. The album went gold, peaking at #16 on
Billboard's Hot 200 album chart. They continued their R&B success through-
out the 1980s, with four more R&B Top Ten hits Heartbeats; Don't Waste Your
Time; Guilty and I Wouldn't Lie.
Total Experience Productions folded in the late 1980s. Yarbrough & Peoples currently reside in Dallas. Texas.
