The Legislative Budget Board today issued its
"no new taxes" spending recommendations for the two,
years staring September 1st. They include a 3.4 per
cent annual pay raises for state employees.
The L.B.B. was able to write a balanced budget
because of more than 330-million dollars in federal
revenue sharing funds allocated to Texas.
The new proposal calls for much more construction
money than is currently authorize, funds for acquiring
and KxE developing state parks and addition of 50
highway patrolmen each year.
The board also proposed increased spending by
the Legislature itself....5-million dollars for the
Senate next year with 3.9-millon now and 6.5-million
for the House compared with 5-million.
