DALLAS - (http://www.sardallas.org) The new Chapter president,
TXSSAR Treasurer Cliff Slagle is proud to announce that the Chap-
ter will host the February 2004 TXSSAR Conference. At the March
meeting, Dallas radio personality Mike Holbrook discussed reen-
actments as "Living History". Mrs. Whitelock received the Martha
Washington Medal and Barbara Baker received the SAR Medal of
Appreciation for their faithful assistance in getting the Chapter
newsletter to compatriots. Mrs. Whitelock's husband Tom received
the "Golden Hammer Award" (an 8 pound sledge hammer!) for the
hardest worker in 2001 as well as a Meritorious Service Medal and
Certificate.
The April Meeting awarded Ms. Cynthia Moore with recogni-
tion as the American History teacher of the year in Dallas. On April
26th about 40 first graders participated in Colonial Day at Provi-
dence Christian Academy. Students, teachers, Chapter compatriots
and parents dressed in period attire and the children were taught a
great deal about living in the Colonial era.
CENSUS and SAR recruitment was the focus of the May meet-
ing and TXSSAR President Jim Robertson was the speaker. The im-
mediate two previous TXSSAR presidents were on hand as well.
Keyondrae Coleman, a 5th grader at Sequoia Learning Center and
Clara Doyle, a 5th grader at St. Rita Catholic Community were

meeting, the Chapter celebrated its 72nd Birthday. TXSSAR Presi-
dent Jim Robertson installed the new officers and helped cut the
cake. In May, H. Ross Shipman attacked the topic of "Presidential

.M. Van Zandt Color Guard posted the colors at the state meeting of the
Mayflower Society in Irving, Texas. On April 10, 2002 the Chapter par-
ticipated in the presentation of ROTC awards began with the local
JROTC awards and college awards at Texas Christian University. Final
awards occurred on May 9th. On May 18, 1:00 pm the Chapter directed
the Flag Certificate presentation at Channel 11 studios on Bridge Street.

AMARILLO - The new Chapter officers were sworn in during the April
meeting. The Chapter discussed purchasing one of the new TXSSAR
flags and noted that their Color Guard is increasing in number steadily.

Henry Chapter SAR presents the SAR ROTC Medal to ROTC Students
in the Austin, Texas area in recognition of leadership, unusual Military
ability and overall excellence.
In the photograph, Compatriot William A. Howard, Past President
of the Patrick Henry Chapter SAR presents the SAR ROTC Medal to
Cadet Senior Airman Jack Mussett from Westwood High School TX -
861 Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). This
presentation was made at their 15th. Annual Awards Banquet April 10,
2002.
Memorial Day, May 27, 2002, the Patrick Henry Chapter SAR in
cooperation with several of the DAR Chapters in Austin and the Will-
iam Hightower Chapter, conducted a Memorial Day Service at the Texas
State Cemetery in Austin, Texas in Honor of all Veterans. Wreaths were
laid on the graves of Patriots Lt. Robert Rankin and Sgt. Stevens Will-r'
