The D.G.P.C., in recognizing the importance of these goals,
also recognized the importance of social change through the ex-
isting political system. This constructive approach involves
our working closely with other state and national gay organiza-
tions. We believe that effective social change requires a
grass roots educational approach combined with pragmatic programs
and intense patience.
Futhermore, we believe that to have a sexual and affectional
preference that differs from the majority should be no excuse
for being classified as a second class citizen. Recognizing that
when the rights of one minority are violated, the rights of all
Americans are in jeopardy , we declare we stand "UNITED FOR
EQUAL RIGHTS."CAUCUS
