CARS MOVING
Ten fast-moving sports cars get away in the feature
event of the Guardsman's Trophy races at the National
Guard base near Fort Worth's Eagle Mountain Lake.
The race is a 20-lap event over the three-and-six-
tenths-mile course. The course winds around the
triangular runways of the National Guard landing
field, and each turn is almost 180 degrees. Off to
an early start is number 11, driven by Carroll
Shelby of Dallas. The car is an Allard with a
Cadillac motor, owned by Roy Cherryhomes of
Jacksboro.GROUP OF CARS IN TURN
Close behind Shelby are the others, each jockeying
for position, trying to make up for the slow turnson the straight-away.
