A weeIend hunt along the Texas Gulf coast nets
Lawrence Curtis a host of new birds for the
cages of Fort "orth's Forest Park Zoo.   Curtis,
the zoo's curator, and Perks Director Hamm
Hittson captured 30 birds, among them 16 baby

brown and white pelicans. The pelicans, who
habitually wear a self-satisfied expression,
are only about two months old and have not yet
grown full feathers.
BIRD IN WATER
The pelicans swim as soon as 'they can walk, but
because of the awkwardness afoot they use their
lengthy wings to help them get around.

Also brought back, two blue and three Louisiana

herons. Here's one of the blues.

(WiC)...This dark fellow is a Glossy -Ibis, the

only one of his breed captured.
