INFORMATION SYSTEMS
The impact of the computer upon business and society
has been phenomenal. One result of this continuing
dynamic technological growth has been a significant
demand for professionals having an understanding of both
business and computer information systems. The
Department of Accounting and Information Systems
offers several complete programs in computer information
systems for business. The student enrolled in these
programs will study a balanced mixture of computer
information systems courses such as COBOL
programming, systems analysis, data bases, and technical
computer concepts.
The objective of this program is to prepare students to
develop and utilize computer-based information systems as
a cost-effective business resource. The individual
completing this program will gain a unique education that
combines an in-depth understanding of business processes
with the necessary technical knowledge. The graduate of
the program will be competent in the analysis, design, and
use of computer information systems which support the
planning, controlling, reporting, and decision-makingfunctions of a business or governmental organization. The
emphasis of the program is that of supplying information
for problem solving which is both useful and cost justified.
