FINANCE
The Master of Business Administration degree with a
concentration in finance is designed to provide a
foundation of knowledge which will prepare the student
for future success in either a chosen professional field or in
more advanced academic work.
An M BA in finance provides career opportunities in
four major areas:
1. Financial Management: This major area is for
individuals interested in corporate or individual financial
management. Emphasis is on financial planning, asset and
liability management, and capital budgeting within the
confines of the legal organization being studied.
2. Management of Financial Institutions: This particular
area is for individuals seeking a career with commercial
banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and their
regulatory agencies. Emphasis is on the asset and liability
management of the institutions with consideration given to
the legal and regulatory environments in which the
institutions must function.3. Investments Management: This field of specialization is
for individuals interested in the stock markets, bond
markets, options markets, commodity markets, and their
associated regulatory agencies. Emphasis is on the analysis
of financial investments and the economic interaction
between the financial markets and the financial institutions
with which they do business.
4. International Financial Management and Financial
Institutions: This particular field of specialization is for
individuals with an interest in the international aspects of
financial management, markets, and institutions.
Emphasis is on asset and liability management, capital
budgeting, and fund raising within the multinational
corporation. Appropriate attention is also given to the
international financial institutions and markets with which
the multinational corporation must deal.7
