COUNCIL 1-1-1
The Fort Worth city council has a long and wordy session
this morning, devoted mostly to public housing and
the sewage problems of two suburbs. Last week the
council took preliminary action to accept a 221-unit
housing development offered to the city by the Public
Housing Administration under a ink program which
provides federal housing in exchange for the destruction
of sub-standard 4 dwellings. Former Councilman Joe
Owen, speaking for the Fort Worth Real Estate Board,
asks the council to take a better look before taking
final action. Owen says there may be a better solution
to the combined slum and housing problems and suggests
a committee of citizens make a study of the matter.
MED. SHANNON
Councilman Shannon offers a motion calling for M* a
survey of housing needs before the council approves
the housing units which would be paid for entirely by
the the federal agency. The motion brings forth these
