Doctor Howard Hughes, an English Literature M
Professor at Texas Wesleyan College has more than
200 editions of the NovelS Moby Dick. And even
Dr. Hughes will admit he kind of went over-board.
He says he began collecting different editions in
college, and the more he collected, the more books
he wanted. He says he was fascinated by the idea
of having such a i collection...a fascination
somewhat like Mapta Ahab M in
his efforts
to catch the slippery White Whale,
Soon, the professor's students got in on the act,
and began sending him translations from all over the
world, plus hundreds of figurines of whales. The
Moby Dick collection now has translations in 39
languages, and Professor Hughes says he'll never
stop collecting. He says Moby Dick is the greatest
American work in literature, a fact whichMOBY DICK
