Extracted Text
The following text was automatically extracted from the image on this page using optical character recognition software:
16 -Silver wire. Petals in center
slightly raised. Contains J.
Taylor's The Wedding Ring,
1844.
17 - Silver wire. Almanack 1888
(N.O.).
No.'s 18, 19, and 21 are converted to
needle case.
20 - Diamond center shape is raised.
Contains Bryce edition of As
You Like It. (N.O.).
22, and 23 are empty.
24 - Solid silver, the only one that
can be positively dated. Hall
Marked. London 1822.
25 - With the name "Pussey" engraved
on front center. Almanack
1826. (N.O.).
26 - Silver wire, center rose raised,
contains Almanack 1837.
Surprisingly enough, only two of the five
London Almanack sizes are represented
here, the standard 2 1/4 by 1 1/4 and the
half size 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 inches. There are
no "finger" or double page size silver or
gold bindings. And while your editor possesses
several similar bindings, which we
shall picture in a later article, we have
never seen any other sizes either.

ABC'S
The subject of miniature books takes
one into many related by-ways. One such
cousin is the early alphabet counters used
like flash-cards to teach children their
