SCOUTS
MAN AFTER WOMEN
IS
After an early lunch at Weatherford, 1 boy scouts from
Ft Worth head for their bicycles which will carry them
to Worth Ranch, a sprawling scout camp some 75 miles
west of Ft Worth. The idea was offered by Eagle Scout
Robert Walker, who made the trip on foot last year, and
decided bicycles might cut down on the blister bill.
G.C. Spurloek, scoutmaster of troop 15, volunteered
for the long haul, as did several of the scouts fathers.
Bill Casburn, of 47-13 Carol, manages a brave smile,
while another Dad, Buford Green, smears his aching legs
with sun..burn lotion. The scouts pulled into Weather..
ford about 9:15 this morning, three hours and 15 minutes
after leaving Maryts Creek, west of Ft Worth. Average
speed for the Ft Worth to Weatherford leg was about
seven miles an hour, above expectations. The scouts
plan to rest 20 minutes between each two hours of bike
time. The hot sun figures to be something of a problem,
and one of the fathers has brought along an umbrella.1:55
