Dear Paul,
I wanted to write so that this letter would be waiting on you
when you returned. I trust things went fine for you and your family
when you were in Virginia. I am sorry about the passing of your grandfather.
I also wanted to write because I was afraid I may miss you before
leaving for Kansas Sunday. As we talked before, I very much would like to
see you help us out by supervising the fund raising activities in the
Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I would appreciate it if you could call B.J. as
soon as you get back in town to discuss this role.
It means alot to me personally that you serve in this capacity. For one
thing, you will bring to the position natural financial and management skills.
Secondly, it is important to me that someone is involved at this level that
doesn't "carry excess baggage" as far as alignment with one or more gay organizations
in the area. As you know personalities can sometimes hinder a program like we
are trying to undertake. The timing is such that we cannot afford to have
someone supervising who may be "on the outs" with someone else. Your are an
ideal candidate.
B.J. and I have worked through the logistics of assigning the project
coordinators for the area. All you would need to do is discuss this with her
and clarrify your role.
Please, Paul. I need you. The case needs you.
Sincerely,
on Baker_
