CRANE ACCIDENT 1-1-1-1-1-1
Seventy-two-hundred volts of electricity courses
through a large, truck-mounted crane on Fort
Worth's  Southeast side.   The heat sets fire to
the truck tires, and, for a time, it is thought
the crane's gasoline tanks may go up. To touch
the truck is almost sure death; spectators are
kept at a safe distance. For a time, the crane's
25-year-old operator was trapped inside the cab,
but he jumped to safety, driven out by the heat.
The crane was working at a construction site on
f Will barger road, just off Miller Street.

The operator, Jim Leverett of 17-20 College
Avenue, says the crane accidentally hit the line
and snapped it in two. He says he remembered
E the best thing to do is stay in the cab.
So he stayed. But when the.. tires caught
fire and things got too hot he jumped off and
