TURBINE CAR -

James Gambrell is already telling his wife he's going
to be the first behind the wheel. And the wk wheel is
about all that looks familiar in this car -- A Chrysler
Corporation car powered with a turbine engine, instead

of the usual reciprocating engine.

The Gambrell's,

of 12-thousand-five in Dallas get the keys from Chrys--

1er represenative W. E. Drinkard.

The car now belongs

to the Gambrell's for the next three months, then will
be passed on to another selected motorist for further

testing and driver-reaction.

The heart of the engine

is a large turbine-wheel, driven by a heated mixture
blowing
of fuel and air tfkzxt akw through the turbine blades.
The result is an engine that's vibration-free, is
smaller and lighter-weight than other engines of the

same power, and is quieter and more economical.

With

all that, the manufacturer says the car still is
purely experimental, with no production-line models in

view yet.

Chrjsler says the car runs best on kerosene,

but HAS burned perfume and Tequila -- either of which
runs up the cost of operation.
