Dallas County Deputy Sheriff Lum Lewis has been
accused of deliberately getting himself snakebit,
but he says it isn't so. Lewis is Scoutmaster of
Troop 543, Circle 10 Council. Last Thursday, Lewis
and 30 of his scouts were at camp at Shady Lake,
Arkansas, studying, among other things, what &a to
do for a snakebite victim. Then Lewis got bit.
And his scouts turned to * practice what they'de
been taught. Lewis now is living proof that good
first aid pays off and his scouts now have some
honest-to-goodness fang marks to apply their
suction cups to. Lewis' friends joke that he'll
do anything to give his scouts experience..
