TEXAS HUMAN RIGHTS FOUNDATION
ROBERT SCHWAB AWARDS
Robert Schwab was a founder of the Texas Human Rights
Foundation and became its first president in 1978. He died of
AIDS in 1983. During the 1970's, he was a pioneer in the
world of gay and lesbian legal activism, and became the
driving force behind litigation to declare section 21.06 of
the Texas Penal Code unconstitutional. The Robert Schwab
event memorializes the dreams of achievements of Robert
Schwab, through recognition of individuals and groups who
have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of
lesbian and gay rights.
The sixth annual Robert Schwab event will be held in
Dallas on Saturday, February 6, 1993. The recipients of this
year's awards are:
