The party at the courthouse in Fort Worth is for
Justice of the Peace Whit Boyd who's stepping down
from a post he has held for 16 years. Boyd's
courtroom is Christmas decorated as hundreds of
friends and well-wishers call at an open house
staged by his clerks. But Boyd announces he's
gonna be around the courthouse    after he leaves
the bench. He says he'll go to work for Sheriff
Evans and will be m    assigned to one of the
district courts as a bailiff. Boyd has been in the
county's service 22 years. He started as an
investigator for the district attorney, later
worked four years as a sheriff's deputy before
being elected to office. One of his filing
cabinets is decorated with small buggies. It was
&51 years ago that he and Mrs. Boyd were married
