The ball-room at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas isn't exactly
smoke-filled as the cigarette's greatest foe Doctor
Alton Ochsner of New Orleans, cancer surgeon and specialist,
makes it plain*---He believes cigarettes cause cancer.
Addressing the Dallas unit of the American cancer society, he
says 250-thousand people die every year from all kinds of
cancer. There are 40-million people now living who will get
it, and 26-million of those who will die of it at the present
incidence rate. But, he says, cancer will be cured, great
strides are being made, and many cases can be cured if caught
early with a check-up once.a year. Speaking of cigarettes,he says lung cancer has increasE
in the last 30 years, mainly
because of cigarettes. He says the U*S, end four European
countries all say there is a causal relationship between
