BLUE MOUND COPS
At the Criminal Courts Building in Ft Worth, chief
deputy Earl Brown hands an indictment to L.D. Myers,
one of three Blue Mound police officers indicted by
the Tarrant County Grand Jury yesterday. The assault
to murder charges grew out of a shooting at Blue Mound
May 25th, in which Herbert L. Williams was shot in the
back. The other officers involved are bale Hankins and
A.F. Michlitsch. All three men have been on voluntary
suspension since the shooting. Williams was shot once
in the front yard of his home, following an automobile
accident. Williams had lost control of his car, Jumped
a curb, and crashed into the living room of a neighbor's
house. The shooting victim is reported in good condition
at Harris Hospital.
The trio surrendered about 9:30 this morning. After the
indictments were passed out, the officers were booked and
fingerprinted. Hankins, Myer nd Michlitsch claim the
shooting was justified, since Williams failed to stop
when they told him to halt, Six shots were fired, but4+ GN
