morning, this was the lake in Tyler State Park, south-
east of Tyler, but before 8-am it was little more than
55-acres of mud, a few puddles, and a scattering ofsunken boats and rusted-out motors.
Where the water

in fact was used only for that purpose.
It supplied
3 none of the water used by the city of Tyler, so the
loss of the lake is not critical. But the parks depart-
ment, only three years ago, restocked the lake with
game fish --nearly all of which apparently survived
the dan break and now are merrily swimming down theNo one was camping at the lake this

went was through that big hole yohder -- a 100-foot
wide gap in the lake dam. A roar was heard as the
bulwark gave way, then through the hole cascaded the
water into Saline Creek, a tributary of the Sabine
River. The lake was a renowned recreational center,Sabine Fiver.
