The Fort Worth city council, facing the I October
1st loss of most of the city's emergency ambulance
service, authorizes the conversion of 10 police
department station wagons into ambulances. Policemen
will drive the ambulances and the service will
used until the city can reach a contract with a
private firm. The city will charge about 30 dollars
for ambulance runs and Chief Hightower says the
conversion of the station wagons will begin rightaway.
