Council Proceedings.
The regular session of the city
council was held at the mayor’s of-
fice on Wednesday night of last
week, and the following business
was disposed of:
The mayor appointed O. E. Stolz
ill
as a member of the street commit*
tee, to fill the vacancy created by
ijit
the resignation of F. H. Wagner.
Jll.
The petition from the fire de-
partment was granted. H. W.
Speckels, chief of the fire depart-
ment reported that the new fire
hose was exactly as represented,
but that the nozzles were not the
same. He was instructed to have
the representative come and ex-
amine them.
The report of the street commit-
tee was read. In substance the
report showed an expenditure of
$25.65 for street work. The fol-
lowing report was made by the
finance committee appointed by the
council to check up the city books:
To the Hon. Mayor, and City Council
of the City of LaGrange:
GKNTLEMKN:—
We the undersigned finance com-
mittee appointed by you to ex-
amine the financial affairs and ac-
counts of the city, for the year
1905, beg to report that we have
examined the books and accounts
of the various officers, and find
them correct, except that the city
collector, collected on April 1st.
1905. $1 -5° -Receipt 437- Mary
Randolph, back taxes for the year
1901, which was overlooked in
making his report, which will be
done in his next report.
We also find that no voucher has
ever been drawn in favor of the
collector, for one dollar ($1.00)
due him as shown by the report of
the finance committee for the year
1904. We recommend that this be
now done, in order that the matter
may be closed, so that complica-
tions may be avoided in the future.
We find that the treasurer had
on hand, on the first day of Janu-
$100 Howard, $100.
The readers of this paper will be
pleased to learn tbit there is at
least one dreaded disease science has
beeu able to oure iu all its stages
and that is catarrh. Hall’s Catarrh
Cure is the only positive cure now
known to the medical fraternity.
Catarrh being a constitutional dis-
ease, requires a constitutional treat-
ment. Hall’s Catarrh Cure is taken
internally, acting directly upon the
blood and inucuos surfaces of tbe
system, thereby destroying the
foundation of the disease, and giv-
ing the patient strength by build-
ing up the constitution and assist-
ing nature in doing its work. The
proprietors have so much faith in
its curative powers, that they offer
ons hundred dollars for any csss it
fails to oure. Send for list of testi-
monials.

hose, and other apparatus, and also
meeting the heavy expense of re-
pairing the public school building,
together with minor improvements,
all of which were absolutely neces-
sary, have reduced the city’s in-
debtedness, $854.00 during the
year 1905, which we deem a very
creditable showing.
We also find the books of the
collector, secretary and treasurer,
kept in better form than has been
done in the past, and each of these
officers personally ready and will-
ing to assist your committee in
every way possible, in making this
investigation.
All reports and books have
been checked, up to, and including
January 31st. 1906, except those of
the treasurer which were checked
