GTE Vehicles To Feature New Colors
A new look is coming to the
motor vehicle fleet of General
Telephone Company of the
Southwest which operates in
Texas, Oklahoma, New
Mexico and Arkansas.
The familiar two-tone
white and gold vehicle color
in use since 1961 is giving
way to a basic silver gray
with blue and white mark-
ings.
B.D. Drennan, division
manager said all new vehicles
will feature the new colors
Senator Tower
To Visit Albany
Senator John Tower will
be visiting in Albany Tues-
day as part of a four-day
swing through West and
Central Texas.
The senator will be in
Albany for a reception at 6
p.m. Tuesday to close out a
day of traveling that begins
with a 10 a.m. meeting in
Glen Rose. The senior
senator from Texas will be
accompanied by his wife.
At each stop Tower will
discuss the legislation await-
ing the Congress which con-
venes Jan. 19. He will also
answer citizens’ questions
and listen to their concerns.
“The only effective way to
represent a state with a
population of more than 12
million people is to meet
face-to-face with citizens in
their hometowns,” Tower
said. “These town meetings
will keep me up-to-date on
the thinking of Texans and
strengthen my arguments on
the floor of the Senate in
their behalf.
and markings. Approximate-
ly 1,000 will be in use
Company-wide by the end of
1978.
Drennan said a major
consideration for the change
was economics since the
single color vehicles will
come from their producers in
a single color rather than the
more costly two-tone combi-
nation. The tri-color effect of
the new scheme will be
obtained by application of
reflective striping applied
locally. Because of the reflec-
tive quality of the markings,
the vehicles will have a high
degree of visibility in all
weather conditions for
recognition and safety pur-
poses.
Over 3,400 vehicles in the
General of the Southwest
fleet will be among some
30,000 vehicles of GTE tele-
phone companies that will be
carrying the new look when
the conversion program is
completed. The GTE fleet is
the third largest in the
United States.

HOW TO BE A BETTER CHRISTIAN IN 1978!
Many of us set out last year to be the best person we could
be in the New Year. Somehow, some of us failed even though
we tried so hard. I want, at this time, to give you some ways
be a better Christian in this coming new year of 1978...
1. Set out to read the Bible thru again. Read 4 chapters a
day & you can finish in 10 months.
2. By all means have family devotions, a chapter in the
Bible and a circle of prayer with the family every day.
3. Have daily a personal, private time of Bible reading,
prayer, meditation and memory work.
4. Set out to pray through every difficulty and need until
you can thank God and live without worry, according to
Philippians 4:6-7.
5. Set out to get every kinsman and every close friend
saved this year. Start NOW.
6. Make Jesus Lord of your life, first in everything this
year.
7. Set a goal to win some soul each week at all costs. Set a
definite hour and plan each week to seek the lost.
See you next year, and remember...Self always wants to
be crowned, but God says it must be crucified.
