Dear Editor:
Tuesday afternoon during the ice
storm I was traveling fron Abilene to
Wichita Falls. Between Albany and
Throckmorton, ice began forming on
my windshield and, consequently,
began wreaking havoc on my wind-
shield wipers. I decided to stop in the
little town of Elbert to scrape off
some of the ice and noticed that my
wipers were so coated over that they

weren't even doing any good. Just
about that time a large white truck
pulled up in front of me, and two men
hopped out and, without a word, be-
gan deicing my windshield wipers.
One of the men then informed me
that my blades were too torn up to
work, and suggested returning to
Throckmorton for a new set of wiper
blades. I was in quite a hurry to get
home to WF for a children's Christ-
mas pageant I had been helping with,
and thought that if I did that I would
get home too late. The men then
suggested that I follow them to the
store. Reluctantly I did, expecting to
be sitting there for a while waiting to
get help. Well, when we arrived at
Leonard Auto Parts the men immedi-
ately began the'task of removing my
wipers for me, and then went in and
found the right replacements and in-
stalled them. The whole ordeal took
maybe 15 minutes! Not only did my
new blades work 100 times better,
but I did make it home in time for the
pageant.
I thanked the men and learned that
their names were Rudy and Ray. I
unfortunately didn't catch their last
names, but I assume they were from
the town since the other men in the
store knew them. I had just spent an
exhausting weekend at my
Grandmother's bedside while she was
having surgery in the. hospital. The
last thing I needed at that moment
was to be stranded on the side of the
road with broken Wiper blades, or
worse.
Those kind men made what could
have been a bad situation an easy one.
Thank you Rudy and Ray, wherever
you are. Throckmorton is very lucky
to have such good Samaritans.
Sincerely,
Melissa Oden Southard

Dear Mr. Editor,
My name is Meagan Brockman. I
wrote these poems for our one time
school newspaper The Cowboy Con-
nection but they were accidentally
left out. I was wondering if you could
print them for me. I forgot to say I am
a sixth grade student at Woodson,
and I wrote these poems for my fam-
ily. I would be grateful if you could
help me.
Thank you,
Meagan Brockman

wife to Allsups store so we could be
warm. The waiting wasn't bad at all
when you know that nice folks (4 of
them in all) were doing everything
they could to help .
They fixed the car for a minimum
fee and wished us well going home.
The tempature (chill factor) was 23,
so we were not looking forward to
spending the night on the road. I only
wish I could take them (all 4) out to
dinner sometime.
Wishing all Throckmorton folks
the best of Holidays.

Dear Folks:
The day after Thanksgiving, me
and my wife were driving back from
Haskell, Texas on our way to Tyler,
Texas.
About 10 miles from Throckmor-
ton, our 96 plymouth van died as if it
was out of gas. Soon a car stopped
and the nice man asked if he could
help. So we told him to send us a tow
truck from Throckmorton. Before
the wrecker could get to where we
were the Sherriff from Throckmor-
ton drove up and asked what he could
do. He made a call and verified a
wrecker was on its way. Whe we got
into Throckmorton, a man older than
me (I'm 76) took us to his garage and
his mechanic worked 1 1/2 hours to
take the filter off the top of the gas
tank and clean it as the parts store
didn't have a new one.
The old fellow took me and my

NOT AM, OF THIS IS MF,
A distintuished professor was often seen walking
around campus, hand-in-hand, with his preschool
granddaughter. One day, instead of holding hands
as they walked together, a fellow professor, who had
seen them many times before this day, approached
them and observed the little girl sitting on the shoul-
ders of her grandfather. They stopped and greeted
each other and the man said to the little girl, "My
goodness! Look at you! Look how much you have
grown!" The little girl smiled and replied, NOT ALL
OF THIS IS ME!
As we celebrate Christmas, let us remember that
"not all of this is me;" let us remember the words of
Luke 2:10-11,
...Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good
news of a great joy which shall be for ALL the
peoples; for today in the city of David there has been
born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord!
May ALL of you ride on the shoulders of a "great
joy," the joy of our "Savior, Christ the Lord!"
