Dear Editor,
Every year the Woodson
Coronation is presented and people
walk away without knowing the
amount of work it takes to put it on.
I volunteered to chair the
coronation this year and could
never have done it without the help
of many others. Some worked on
the actual construction, some
donated materials, students worked
in class and others worked at home.
Many put in extra practice time.
1 would like to thank the
following people: Gay Hibbitts,

Financial Assistance Network in
Washington, DC has just published a
new booklet, "Freee & Low Cost
Medical Care." The booklet included
information on how and where to get
free and low cost medical care under
the Federal Hill-Burton Program.
The Hill-Burton program has been
in effect for over 50 years providing
more than 35 billion dollars in free
and low cost care to qualified partici-
pants. The program was established
in 1946 to assist in the construction
and modernization of hospitals and
medical care facilities. Nearly 6 bil-
lion dollars in grants and loans were
given to 7,000 facilities in over 4,000
communities. In exchange the facili-
ties agreed to provide a reasonable
amount of services to persons resid-
ing in the local community who are
unable to pay.
"There are currently 687 facilities
that provice free or low cost medical
car, but there is rarely any publicity to
let the public know about this pro-
gram," says Jim Surasak, a researcher
at Financial Assistance Network. "A
step by step outline guides consum-
ers through the process of finding a
participating facility, and applying to
determine their eligibility for free or
low cost care. Consumers can apply
before or after receiving care from a
participating facility."
Financial Assistance Network is
an organization established by vol-
unteers dedicated to helping people
who cannot afford medical care or
prescription medication, The pri-
mary purpose of Financial Assis-
tance Network is to inform poten-
tially qualified applicants about the
patient assistance programs for which
they appear eligible and assist them
in the enrollment process.
Consumers can receive a copy by
sending $5 to cover the cost of print-
ing, postage and handling to Finan-
cial Assistance Newtwork - Free &.

‘Game Warden
The latest word we have on our
game warden is that we are slated to
get a new one as soon as the State has
a graduate of the Game Warden Acad-
emy. In the meantime, we are fortu-
. nate to have an excellent warden from
Baylor County, Mr. Donnie Fitts serv-
ing Throckmorton County. With the
start of hunting season, illegal hunt-
ing activity is sure to increase so be
on the lookout and don't hesitate to
call Donnie at (940) 889-2577 or

other suspicious activity.
