‘B’ Team Daubers
Clobber Ponies
In Season Finale
Pony Stampede
I Thursday, November 13, 1975
Page 3, Sec. 1
Under the direction of
coach Ronny Stooksberry,
the Kermit Junior High
School eighth grade ‘B’ team
Daubers hosted the eighth
grade Ponies from Andrews
Thursday and stung the
visiting squad 12 to 0 in the
final football game of the
season.
From the opening gun, the
two teams waged a “defensive
battle deluxe” and at the end
of the first three periods of
play, neither team had
manage to establish a
successful scoring drive.
In the Final stanza, the
Daubers found a weakened
Pony squad and unleashed
their stingers and
immediately drew blood and
six points. The tally came
when Malcolm Bryant found
daylight and running room
and scampered for 64 yards
around left end.
The extra point attempt
failed, leaving the score:
Kermit 6 - Andrews 0.
With one minute and 58
seconds remaining in the grid
clash, Ray Boring found
running room and raced 85
yards on a fake punt for the
second and Final touchdown
of the game. The PAT was
unsuccessful.
At the close of the game
Coach Stooksberry cited Denny
McCombs for “doing a fine
job Filling in for Stuart Mills,
who moved up to the ‘A’
Team.”
Cited for his performance
on defense was Sammy
Berzoza, who snagged three
Pony passes.
“The boys have shown
great improvement each week
due to their hard work in
workouts,” the coach added.
“There ought to be some fine
football players in the future
from this group of young
athletes.”
In conclusion, Coach
Stooksberry said, “They are a
great group and I enjoyed
working with them.”
As the season ended, the
‘B’ squad Daubers posted a
three win - four loss record.

There's no doubt about it. This has got to be one of the match. The Pecos team took

MIDLAND 14 - MIDLAND LEE 12: This is one of those

the 54A war, but were unable to finish in the money.

that this season is over for these two teams due to the fact
that if it were any longer, we might never have made it to the
great Abilene showdown that these two teams always offer
the football spectator. Both of these squads have what it
would have taken to win any other 4-A district, besides
District 5-AAAA. This year, we will give the Cooper squad
the black mark.
CRANE 15 - REAGAN COUNTY 13: This is just one
more wild battle that will be on tap for this Friday’s football
enjoyment. The entire West Texas area will be amid one of
the greatest football nights that has ever existed. In this
contest, we’ll go with the Cranes.
McCAMEY 21 — SONORA 10: The Badgers should run
into little trouble in this contest with Sonora, however, who
can ever say for sure what’s going to happen in football now
days.
WINK 10 — CLINT 7: The Wildcats will tally one more
win for the season Friday night when they take on Clint, in
a hard-hitting contest. The Wildcats have been plagued with
inexperience during the past season, but have still played the
best football seen in Wink during the past decade. Look for
them to do something really big in the future.
