The San Antonio Express hails
the return of Frank Lee to its hos
pitablc jail and says'he is “a pal oi
Bill Borton, alias Yankee Bill, who
is charged with robberies in five
different counties, Lee, Caldwell,
Brazos, Brazoria and Navarro. It
is said tie has stolen six watches,
and other valuables in these coun-
ties. Frank was “taken in” at
Houston, on the particular charge
of having stolen two , watches at
Caldwell Springs, Caldwell county,
which he disposed of here. He is
reported to be a grand rascal, and
the possibility ot his coining to grief
is rejoiced in.” The Herald : “Lee
says l:e has §200 in a Houston bank
and also has money deposited in
Galveston. He has evidently pro-
vided tor himself in anticipation of
trouble of this kind and will leave
some of his money in the hands ot
our lawyers before he leaves for his
Huntsville quarters.” It is report-
ed here he has also sixty-four watch-
es deposited, picked up in his trav-
els through Texas.
Chicago clerks, male and female,
are abcut to inaugurate a new en-
terprise. A co-operative associa-
tion is to be formed, comprising tit-
ty clerks, all except about a half a
dozen unmarried, and each possess-
ing from §100 to §1,000 cash capital.
They expect to be able to raise §50,-
000 cash. With this a stock of goods
amounting to some §200,000 is to he
purchased, credit to be had or diff-

SiterioN 1—That any person who shall place
obstructions of any kind on tho track or ihe
rails of the street railway, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof,
shall be lined in any sum not less than twenty-
live dollars nor more than ous hundred dollars.

Section 1—That it shall be unlawful for any
person or persons to give, have or exhibit any
variety show, theatre, concert or show of any
kind on Sunday, within the corporate limits of
this city
Sec. 2—That any person violating the provis
ions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty ol'
a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof,
shall be lined in any sum not less than fifty nor
more than one hundred dollars.
Sec:. .3—4 hat this ordinance take effect from
and after i!3 publication as required by law.

I, R. B. Hiiblmrd, Governor of the State of
Texas, in accordance with the provision of an
act <if the Legislature of said State, approved
August 19, 1876, do hereby invite Sealed Propo-
sals fora lease of the Texas State Penitentiary,
at Huntsville, in said Stale, and the labor of the
Convicts belonging thereto, for a term of live
years, commencing January 1, 1878; said propo-
sals to he endorsed: “Proposals to lease, the
Texas State Penitentiary at Huntsville, ’’ and to
be filed in theollice of the Secretary of Stale, at
Austin, Texas, oner before the first day of De-
cember, 1817, on which day said Proposals will
be opened.
For full information as to the property to be
leased and the terms and condition of lease, ap-
ply to the Secretary of State, who will furnish
printed circular.
In testimony whereof, I hereto sign
