M.Y.r. MISTING
The members of the M.Y.F. of
the WbOdlsad Circuit met at the
Woodlaad church at 6:45 p.m. Aug-
ust 31. The program topic was:
"What can life mean to us.". The
prelude was played by Mrs. Lorena
Fleming. The call to worship was
given by Budd Garrison. This was
followed by a hymn, “I Would be
True.” The worship center was
explained by Ralph Brown. It con-
sisted of the M.Y.F. Emblem to
remind the group of Jesus’ bal-
anced life. The gold of the emblem
was to make us clear and shining
Christians. Thd eight points of'the
Maltese cross represented the
eight beatitudes given by eight of
the members. The Latin cross in
the center of the emblem showed
that Christians are central in all
things. On a table near the emblem
were tools to represent work; a
book, to represent study; canasta
cards, to represent play; picture
of Mary and Joseph, to represent
love, and a Bible and hymnal to
represent worship.
The offering was taken by Jim-
my Boulware. The prayer was
given by Hazel McCoin and the
scripture read by Jamie Miller,
“Rise Up O Men of God,’’ was
sung by the group. There were
three talks on the topic "Christ
our example." Charlotte Stribling;
"Not good. If detached," Clyde
McCoin. “John Frederick Oherlin,’
Kathrn Brown.
Twenty three were present and
one visitor, Joe Doyle. Dallas.
Recreation night has been chang-
ed from Thursday night until Sat-
urda night.
HAREIS CHAPEL
CEMETERY SOCIETY
Harris Chapel Cemetery Society
met Thursday evening at 7 30 in
the home of Mrs. Jesse Proctor.
The meeting was called to order
by the president, Mrs. Hoyt Bow-
ers. Seven members answered roll
call and minutes of the last meet-
ing were read and approved. Rais-
ing money for the upkeep of the
cemetery was discussed, hiring a
new care-taker, and other business
was disposed of.
During the social hour an ice-
course was served to the follow-
ing: Mesdames. Jim Johnston,
Jesse Humphrey, Hoyt Bowers,
Fred Luther. Bert Moss, Hershel
Farley and the hostess.

AUXILIARY MEETS
The Ladies Auxiliaary of the
New Haven Missionary Baptist
Church met Tuesday at 2 p. m.,
with the president presiding.
Mrs. Haskell Summers gave the
opening prayer. Folk)wing a. song,
Mrs. Glover taught the lesson.
*New officers elected as follows:
President. Mrs. James Long; vice
president. Mrs. Haskell Summers;
secretary - treasurer, Mrs. Ross
Mitchell; teacher, Mrs. Veo Glov-
er; tract distributor, Mrs. Bessie
Raulston; reporter, Mrs. Sum-
muers.
Mrs. Johnnie Raulston gave the
closing prayer. The Auxiliary
meets each Tuesday at 2 p. m.
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN
MISSIONARY SOCIETY
The Missionary Society of the
First Presbyterian Church met
Tuesday evening at 6:45 in the
recreation room of the church for
Its regular social and business
meeting. Supper was served buffet
style by Mrs. J. R. McCulloch,
Mrs. E. W. Bowers and Mrs. Jane
Dew.
In the absence of the president
the bastness meeting was presided
over by the vice-president, Mrs.
George Sloan. Twenty-two mem-
bers answered roll call and min-
utes of the last meeting were read
and approved. Other routine busi-
ness was disposed of and Miss
Beulah MltchetT then led a very
Interesting lesaon on “Meet Dr.
Luke”.
Members present were : Mes-
dames Cleat Miller, Mary Reed,
C. M. White, Clyde Rains. Bill
Taylor. Kelaey Dick. Hershel Far-
ley, George Sloan, John Jackson,
C. P. Robison, J. P. Goodman.

Creager, J. R.‘ McCulloch, E. W.
Bowera, Jane Dew, Taylor McCoy,
Misses Georgia Swann VanDyke,
Vera Carroll, Susie Marable and
Beulah Mitchell. Mrs. Sherman of
New Orleans, house guest of Mrs.
McCulloch, was a visitor to the
circle.

daughter, Brinda Kennemer, and
her cousin, Bettie Kennemer, both
from Avinger. Texas, visited Mr.

Standley, Ft. Worth, on the week-
end. returning to Clarksville Mon-
day. The girls were guests of Mr.

Robert and Leah Kay have re-
turned to their home In Chicago,
Illinois, after visiting with Mrs.
Huckabee’z parents. Mr. and Mrs.
Martin Stiles. Leah Kay spent two
