Dave Chandler died at Skidmore
Tuesday morning and the re-
mains were shipped to Hope and
laid to rest beside his brother
who was buried here* about a
month ago.
Sheriff Noble was down in pur
country a day or two last week.
We did not learn his business,

The Methodist meeting is be-
ing conducted by Rev. 0. F. Hat-
field assisted by Revs. Abe Nolen
and Sam Dickinson. Rev. F. B.

several fine sermons Thursday.

and interest good from the start,
some 13 conversions and re-
claims made to date. So many

Abot two weeks ago we had
the finest prospects lor cotton,
but ndw all hopes are gone, es-
pecially around our burg, the-
boll weevils are so pientifuFwhen
you step in the cotton patch, that
the weevils will get in your nose,
ears and pockets. The cotton is
as full of them in spots as wasps
on their nest.
The county examination of
teachers will be held Sept, 4 and
5th, and will be the only one
until December,.the school laws
having done away with the
monthly examinations. There-
fore teachers who are without
valid certificates are advised to
attend and stand examinations
if they wish to obtain schools
this year. (
—As it will be impossible for me
to hold services at Mixon's Creek
in the future the members of the
Lutheran church in that vicinity
are invited to attend services at
Halletsville next Sunday,
