Hoop season has started for
the Cooper squad. Action began
last Tuesday as Cooper Dogettes
hosted the Sulphur Springs Lady
Cats. Cooper was outmatched 62-
37 against the neighboring Sulphur
Springs team.
The Lady Cats took an early
13 point halftime lead with scoring
by Kaylee Jefferson, who passed
the team with 17 points and seven
rebounds. Many of their players
had just completed volleyball. Tori
Moore clinched the game with
rallying for five points in the final
quarter. The Sulphur Springs squad
went 16-14 last year.
Cooper netted 13 of 29 from
the foul line on the night. Leading
the Dogettes was Mariah Seely with
18 points. She was accompanied
by Sydnye Worden and Monica
Stevenson each with seven.
This past Saturday Cooper hosted
Campbell for a day game in which the
visitors left with the 55-47 win. The
Campbell squad had a trio of double-
digit scorers. Despite the competition
Cooper’s Seely achieved 20 points
for the game as the team rallied to
outscore their opponent 20-7 in the
final frame. Stevenson stepped up to
knock in eight of her 12 point total.
Cooper will travel to Bells for their
first varsity tournament play Nov.
19-21.
Cooper Bulldogs will host the
Leonard Tigers on Tuesday, Nov.
24.

Morris Partain: Delta
County's visionary
Continued front Front Page
“Morris, you are not able to
handle all the details of this
Meal by yourself anymore
and I’m going to take charge!”
Morris retorted with a quick
smile, “You are?” She said
“Yes, and I have talked to the
preacher about this.”
Morris loved his family,
friends, and church members.
It was when he married Sue, a
Methodist, that Morris changed
denominations from South-
ern Baptist to Methodist. Sue,
thank you very much for hav-
ing that influence on Morris for
the life of Methodists here in
Delta County. Thank you also
for your many years of faithful
service to this church.
One of his favorite Scrip-
tures was John 3:16: “For God
so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son that
whosoever believes in Him
should not perish, but have Ev-
erlasting Life.”
Here is my tribute in Scrip-
ture to Morris: “For God so
loved MORRIS THAT He
gave MORRIS His only begot-
ten Son, that if MORRIS so be-
lieve in God, MORRIS would
not perish, but MORRIS would
have Everlasting Life.”
