Clyde Wheeler, a resi-
dent of El Campo for 76
years and former owner
of the Wheeler Funeral
Home, died Friday, Sept.
24 at 11:90 p.m. In the El
Campo Memorial
Hospital.
He was bom March 24,
1904 in Upper Alton, 111.,
to the late J.E. and
Lucinda Ann Johnson
Wheeler and was 78 years
old.
He was a member and
a founder of the El Cam-
po Rotary Club, a
member of the El Campo
Masonic Lodge, an active
member of the First
United Methodist Church
and served several times
on the El Campo ISD
school board. He was also
a member of the El Cam-
po Volunteer Fire
Department for many
yean.
Funeral services were
held Sunday at 2 p.m. in
the Wheeler Chapel, with
the Rev. Jim Campbell of
the First United
Methodist Church of-
ficiating.
Survivors include his
wife, Imogens Ramsey
Wheeler of El Campo;
two daughters, Anne
Wheeler of Houston and
CaroTWheeler Uston of
Topeka, Kansas; a step-
daughter, Patricia
Hodges of Baytown; a
Methodist Church.

These “Agricultural
Crisis Seminars” are be-
ing conducted by the
Texas Agricultural Ex-
tension Service of the
Texas AAM University
System to provide the
latest production and
marketing information to
help producers weather
the year ahead, said Dr.
Uel R. Stockard, state
leader for county exten-
sion programs.
“We will be focusing on
the major agricultural
commodities in the
various areas of the state
and will be discussing
key production and
marketing strategies for
1983,” Stockard said.
“Special emphasis will
be on cost effectiveness
and improved production
and marketing efficien-
cy. Government farm
programs, federal crop
insurance and other
aspects that farmers
need to consider in plann-
ing next year’s opera-
tions will be reviewed.”
Discussion will be
handled by Extension
Service agronomists,
economists and livestock
specialists. Texas
Agricultural Experiment
Station scientists will
also speak at some of the
seminars.
